National Achievement Survey ( NAS - 2021 ) Appointment of Observers SUB : National Achievement Survey ( NAS - 2021 ) - Appointment of Observers Ministry of Education , Government of India National Achievement Survey ( NAS - 2021 ) 733 of the country The responsibility of conducting the districts is entrusted to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
NAS is a sample-based survey conducted at the national level to provide a comprehensive database of authentic data for qualitative improvement in education. To know the learning level of students of grades 3,5,8 and 10, 2021 is scheduled to be held in the sample schools on a single day on 12th November 2021.
District Level Co-ordinator at CBSE Headquarters for the operation of NAS. DLC). , TGT and PRT. NAS requires a large number of observers. Schools and their management are expected to cooperate fully in the appointment of supervisors to the DLC. It is the responsibility of CBSE schools to ensure cooperation to DLC.
Each supervisor posted for NAS will be given Rs.3000/- (fixed amount.
Therefore, their correct and complete details should be provided to DLC. Participation in NAS will prove to be educationally useful as well. Supervisors (Observers) will also be given training. DLCS is expected to start nomination from its own schools and appoint observers from other CBSE schools located in the district, according to the number given in the districts, by September 22, 21 on the portal (NAS) ) Portal is being completed under the direction of NAS, Ministry of Education, Government of India. Schools are also expected to go through the FAQs available on the NAS website and actively cooperate in the operation of NAS-2021.

Tentative Schedule for Capacity Building (CB) Sessions for NAS-2021
in view of the requests from various States / UTs for training programme on operational issues relating to NAS-2021,
the NAS, Cell, CBSE has made a schedule for Capacity Building (CB) sessions. This schedule is being listed on the
NAS Portal for immediate reference of the DNOs and DLCs with request to note the same for attending.

Session will be held in VC mode and link will be sent to all by NIC shortly in their respective mail. In case of DLCs,
Regional Directors/Regional Officers (CBSE) are requested that all DLCs must attend. State Nodal Officers are also
requested to ensure participation of the DNOs in the sessions as scheduled.

National Achievement Survey (NAS) is a nationally representative large-scale survey of students' learning undertaken by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. NAS gives a system level reflection on effectiveness of school education. Findings help compare the performance across spectrum and across population in order to find the desirable direction for improvements.
National Achievement Survey-2021 is scheduled on 12th November 2021. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has developed the Assessment Framework for gauging the competencies attained by the students vis-a-vis learning outcomes. The Survey goes beyond the scorecard and includes the background variables to correlate student's performance in different learning outcomes vis-a-vis contextual variables.
This national level survey would be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) as Assessment Administrator for Grade 3, 5, 8 and 10 students of State Govt. schools, Govt. Aided schools, Private Unaided recognized schools and Central Government schools.
The Survey will be conducted in a monitored environment in the sampled schools. Sampling Design for NAS 2021 intends to support the predefined and agreed objectives of the national assessment, NAS 2021 intends to provide information of what India's students know and can do in key grades and subjects at national, state, district and school type. Selection of sampled schools is based on UDISE+2019-20 data. Therefore, the States, Districts used for drawing of the samples for NAS 2021 is exactly as per the UDISE+2019-20.
NAS findings would help diagnose learning gaps of students and determine interventions required in education policies, teaching practices and learning. Through its diagnostic report cards, NAS findings help in capacity building for teachers, officials involved in the delivery of education.
NAS 2021 would be a rich repository of evidences and data points furthering the scope of research and development. With this in view, NAS-2021 Portal has been developed by NIC as a dynamic platform in consultation with the NCERT, CBSE, UNICEF, DDG (Stats) and NITI Aayog under the overall guidance of Ministry of Education, Government of India.
