He was born and raised in Rameshwaram in the state of Tamil Nadu.
He studied Physics at St. Joseph's College, Tiruchirappalli and Aerospace Engineering at Madras Institute of Technology (MIT), Chennai.
For the first four decades of his career, he was a Scientific and Scientific Administrator working primarily at the Defense and Development Organization (DRDO) as well as the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and was closely associated with India's space program and missile development project.
He is known as the "Missileman of India" for his contribution to the development of ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology.
He played a key role in the 19th Pokhran nuclear test program.
Early life and education
a. P. J. Abdul Kalam was born on October 12, 191, to a Tamil Muslim family on Pamban Island, near the Rameshwaram shrine in the then state of Madras (now Tamil Nadu). His father Jainulabdin was the owner of a boat and the imam of a local mosque. His mother Ashiamma was a housewife. His father was working in his boat to bring Hindu pilgrims to Rameshwaram. Kalam was the youngest of four brothers and one sister in his family. Since his family was poor, he used to distribute newspapers to earn a living as a child.
Kalam was an average student in school life but his passion for learning was strong, especially after spending a lot of time studying mathematics. After completing his primary education in Rameshwar, he got admission in St. Joseph's College at Tiruchirappalli. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Physics in 19th. In 19th he enrolled at the Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) in Madras (now Chennai) to study aerospace engineering. Were when he was ninth on the eligibility list.

After graduating from the Madras Institute of Technology in 1905, Kalam became a member of the Defense Research and Development Service (DRDS).
He then joined the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) 's Aeronautics Development Foundation as a scientist.
He started his career designing a small hovercraft. Of course, he was not satisfied with his job at DRDO.

In the 2009 presidential election, he became the 11th President of India with the support of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the then opposition Indian National Congress. Due to his unique work ethic, he became very popular and gained popularity as the "People's President". After his presidency, he was active in education, writing and civic service. He received many prestigious awards, including the Bharat Ratna, India's highest honor.

He died of a heart attack on July 9, 2015 at the age of 8 while lecturing at the Indian Institute of Shillong in Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, India.

His discovery and academic leadership brought him much fame and prestige in the 180's. The government was ready to launch a modern missile program under his direction. V. S. Arunachalam met the then Defense Minister R. On Venkataraman's advice, he worked on a single missile test instead of a phased missile test. The project allocated ૩ 2.5 billion for the Unified Guided Missile Development Program and Kalam was appointed as the chief executive of the project. Under the plan, Kalam played a key role in developing medium-range ballistic missile Agni missiles and surface-to-surface surface-to-air missiles.
Kalam served as the Chief Scientific Adviser to the Prime Minister from July 17 to December 19 and as the representative of the Government of India to the Defense Research and Development Organization. During this period Pokhran-2 nuclear tests were carried out in which he played a profound political and technical role. Kalam worked with Rajagopal Chidambaram as the main project coordinator during the project. During this period the news spread in the mass media gained fame all over the country as a nuclear scientist.
In the 19th century, Kalam teamed up with cardiologist Bhupathiraju Somraju to develop a low cost coronary stent known as Kalam-Raju stent.
