ABOUT

Rashtriya Ekta Divas (National Unity Day) is observed every year on 31stOctober to commemorate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary. It not only commemorates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of national integration of independent India, but also re-affirms the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand threats to the unity, integrity and security of the Country. National Unity Day this year will follow the theme of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. Accordingly, a national level Story Writing competition on the theme – "the contribution of paired State/Union Territory (UT) in India's Struggle for Freedom" is being launched by the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. The competition aims to explore students' creative instincts and encourage them to write about the contributions of their paired states to India's struggle for freedom in accordance with the Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat (EBSB) matrix.

Activities

The Story Writing Competition at the National level will be under the following categories: -


Story on the contribution of paired State/UT in India's development since Azadi

Story on the life of scientists from the paired State/UT

Contribution of women from paired State/UT since Azadi

Story on the life of sports person, practitioners of performing arts from paired State/UT

How will I contribute to the progress of my country?

Story on the life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel: his contribution to national integration

Eligibility to participate: Students enrolled in Grade 6th to 12th

Category I - Class 6th to 8th

Category II - Class 9th to 12th

Word Limit: Within 600 words

Participation Guidelines

The Story writing competition is open for students of classes 6th to 12th studying in State Boards’ schools and schools under Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) and National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).

Story should be submitted in a readable font of Hindi/English

Font size should be 12 for English and 14 for Hindi

Line spacing should be 1.15 only

Font Style should be Times New Roman in English and Unicode (Devanagari) in Hindi

The pairing matrix of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat campaign must be followed. The matrix is available at https://ekbharat.gov.in/Pages/About/ImplementationStrategy

Stories on students own State/UT shall not be considered

The final evaluation of entries will be done by persons authorized by NCERT.

Language

All the Stories must be written in English or Hindi. However, the participants may translate the title of their story in the language of their paired State/UT.


Mode of Submission

The entries for Story Writing Competition shall be submitted at the website- www.MyGov.in

Note: No other means except the above shall be allowed.


The entries will be categorized state wise and sent to the States/UTs for initial filtration.

The evaluation of entries at state level shall be done by the SCERTs.

Each States/UTs/Autonomous bodies shall select the 10 best entries of the States/UTs and will send to NCERT by 15.12.2021

NCERT will select the best three entries for national level certification/recognition by 30.12.2021

Evaluation criteria

Stories will be evaluated based on the following criteria.


Content and understanding of the theme: 50% weightage.

Participants, while developing their writings should keep in mind that they are writing a factual and historical text on the given themes, in a creative manner.

The facts, figures, characters and the experience should be original and presented in such a way that they relate to or originate from the event, persons, experience and practice.

Stories should be written based on facts and not as just an imaginative essay of events.

Accordingly, 50% of the marking would be on the contents i.e. Ideas, presentation and characterization.

Accuracy: 25% weightage.

Accuracy is the correct and appropriate use of language in the stories.

Stories and its events, characters, ideas and themes could be presented in any way and means, but language of the stories need to be correct and appropriate.

25% of the assessment will be on the correct / apt use of language.

Fluency: 25% weightage.

Fluency is one’s ability to write with natural flow, style and rhythm. Use of vocabulary, phrases (use of idioms, proverbs as appropriate to the writings) adapting to the narration and style (narrative technique).

Therefore, 25% of the weightage would be given to style and presentation of the writings on the suggested themes.

Important dates:

Date of commencement 31st October, 2021

Date of culmination 30th November, 2021

Note: In any case, no entries will be accepted after the timeline.



Awards & Recognition

The three best entries will be awarded by the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India with attractive prize and certificate.

The top 75 entries will be given certificates for best performance.

The participation certificates will be given to all the participants.

The winners will be announced through Ministry of Education’s official twitter handle and also on MyGov blog section.

Terms and Conditions

The competition is open to all citizens of India only.

All entries must be submitted on www.MyGov.in. Entries submitted through any other medium/mode would not be considered for evaluation.

A participant can send one entry only. In case it is found that any participant has submitted more than one entry, all entries will be considered as invalid.

The participant must be the same person who has written the story.

The entry should be original. Copied entries will not be considered under the contest.

Please note that the creative entries must be original and should not violate any provisions of the Indian Copyright Act, 1957.

Anyone found infringing on others copyright would be disqualified from the competition. Government of India does not bear any responsibility for copyright violations or infringements of intellectual property carried out by the participants.

Mention of the author name /emails etc. anywhere in the body of the creative entry will lead to disqualification

Participants are to make sure that their MyGov Profile is accurate and updated since Ministry of Education would be using this for further communication. This includes details such as name, photo, complete postal address, email ID and phone number. Entries with incomplete profiles would not be considered.

Ministry of Education reserves the right to cancel or amend all or any part of the competition/or the Term and Conditions/Technical Parameters/ Evaluation Criteria.

Any changes to the Terms and Conditions/Technical Parameters/Evaluation Criteria, or cancellation of the contest, will be updated/ posted on the MyGov Platform. It would be the responsibility of the participant to keep themselves informed of any changes in the Terms & Conditions/Technical Parameters/ Evaluation Criteria stated for this Contest.

 In the above context, it is pertinent to mention that the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel has been declared as National Unity Day by the Central Government on 31st October this year.  In order for the children to get acquainted with the biography of Sardar Patel and assimilate the educational value of making India a better India through his struggle and works for national unity and integration,  Religious - U.M.

One India Best India “National Level Story Writing Competition on the occasion of National Unity Day”


 1. Introduction National Unity Day (National Unity Day) is celebrated every year on 31st October.

 This day is not only to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel,  But it is also a resolve to meet the challenges to the unity, integrity and security of the country as well as to further strengthen the internal strength of the nation within us.  The National Level Story Writing Competition, organized by the Central Government to celebrate National Unity Day this year under the theme 'Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav' as part of the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of India's independence.  Theme - "Contributed States or Union Territories to India's Struggle for India's Independence in the Context of One India Best India Program" The program is being launched by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.  Awareness of struggle and sacrifice is to further strengthen the spirit of national unity and promote their writing.


 2. Theme for National Level Story Writing Competition:

 "Contribution of Chhattisgarh State to India's Freedom Struggle" 


4. Activities:  The story should be written. 


1) The story of Chhattisgarh's contribution to the development of India after independence.

 2) The story of the life of Chhattisgarh scientists in the development of India.  


5) I progress my country  Here's how to contribute.  


6) Story on the life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel His contribution to national unification. 


 Eligibility to participate in this competition: - Children studying in Std. 6 to 12. 


 Category 1: - Std. 6 to 8

 Category 2: - Std. 9 to 12


 Story Word Limit: Maximum Total 600 Words


 4. Participation Guide -  

Children from standard 6 to 12 studying in NVS) or (NIOS) will be able to participate. 

 Word file or its PDF story written in Hindi or English language should be in legible characters. 

 The font size of the text should be 12 for English and 14 for Hindi.  


Maintaining line spacing 1.15. 

 Font style Time New Roman for English and Unicode (Devanagri) for Hindi.  

The final evaluation of the stories will be done by NCERT.  



5. Language - The story should be written in English or Hindi only (Word file or its PDF).  


6. Important Dates -


 The start date for uploading a Word file of a written story or its PDF file is October 31, 2021.  


Deadline for uploading the story written Word file or its PDF is 30 November 2021.  


Note: - No entry will be accepted after 30th November 2021.

- Entries submitted on www.vGov.in by the


 above QR or link will be classified by state and sent to the State Territory Authority for initial filtration. 


 - Entries at the state level will be evaluated by GCERT.  


- The Autonomous Institutions of each State / UT will have to select the 10 Best Story Entry of that State and send it to NCERT by 15,12,2021.  - NCERT will select three


 (3) Best Entries for National Level Certificate Honors up to 30,12,2021. 


 8. Prizes and Honors - Three selected as winners


 3) Stories will be promoted by the Ministry of School Education, Government of India with prizes and certificates.


  - The best 75 entries will be awarded certificates for best performance. 

 - All participants will be given certificates of participation. 


 - The winners will be announced through the official Twitter handle of the Ministry of Education. 


 9. Evaluation Criteria:

 Stories will be evaluated based on the following criteria.  

1. Understanding the Content and Theme A: 50% Marks

 - Competitors should keep in mind when writing their essays that they have created a real and historical text on the given theme as well as its original creation.  The facts, figures, characters and experience in the text, whether original and presented event, related to individuals, experience or real.  - The story should be based on facts, not imaginary essays or events.  - The basis of 50% marks will be based on the ideas of the story, the presentation and the information of the character writing.  


2. Accuracy: 25% marks 

• Accuracy and proper use of language in story writing ઘટના Events, characters, ideas and themes in the story can be presented in any way, but the language of the story should be accurate and with proper accuracy.  

* The weightage of 25% assessment will be on correct and correct use of language.  


 Fluidity: 25% marks load.   With flow, a person has a natural ability to write stylistically and rhythmically.  Vocabulary use, phrases (text-appropriate idioms, use of proverbs) according to description and style suitability (description method)


 • So these 25% marks will be given to the style and presentation of the themed story.  10, Terms and Conditions 


• This competition is open to all citizens of India.  


* All entries must be submitted at www.MyGov.in.  Entries submitted by any other means will not be considered for evaluation.  


* A contestant can send only one entry.  If in any case it is found that more than one entry has been submitted by one contestant, all entries of that contestant will be considered invalid. 


 - The participant should be the same person as the child through whom the story was written and submitted to the website.  જ Original copy of the story must be submitted as an entry only, entries of other copied stories will not be considered for the competition. 


 * The story written by the participant should be original and should not be violated in any way by the Indian Copyright Act, 1957.  


* If the participant's text is found to be infringing on other copyrights in any way.  He will be disqualified from the competition.  The Government of India will not or will not take any responsibility for any copyright infringement by the participant or intellectual property infringement by the participant in respect of the story.  


* Do not mention the author's name / email / other identification anywhere in any part of the story created for the entry. By doing so, the entry will be deemed invalid.  


* Participants should clearly see that their registration on www.MyGov.in is theirs
